Chess

So Sam wanted to play on the chess team at school this year but unfortunately we just couldn't do it financially this year. So, knowing Sam was upset about it I decided it would be a good thing to do for a Saturday with Sam was to play some chess with him.

He had fun and I had fun too. I haven't been able to play chess against anyone lately and it was a good learning experience for Sam. He is pretty good at the game, despite the fact I beat him severely (oh and the upside down light rook is my pawn turned Queen) So I think I'll be playing chess with him more often. I need someone to play against and he needs practice so that next year he can win at the tournament.

Birdhouses!

Finally was able to do something with Sam for Saturdays with Sam.

I bought some little birdhouses at Michaels and we painted them last night.

Corn maze!!

Some people from my church went to corn maze on Saturday. We had a lot of fun.

Sam, Immogene (our pastor's kid) and I even lost our dad and Immogene's dad.. It was funny. The kids kept going and didn't wait for them.

But it was a great time.

Also, Sam has a thing for bunny ears so that is why he is giving me bunny ears.

I didn't even notice until right after the picture was taken.

Ice Cream

So apparently the ice cream truck still goes around the neighbor hood and Sam, when hearing the music, ran out of his room searching for money. So grabbed my wallet and we went outside. I spent the last of my cash but it was well spent to see Sam happy and to give him this memory.

I did't have time to do much with him today so this was my substitute for

Saturdays with Sam.

School Projects

So last weekend, for Saturdays with Sam,

I helped Sam make a paper mache shark for a report on a vertebra of his choice.

So we made a shark. It was tough but I let him to most of the work.

It was after we finished it and painted it, that as when I realized that we had overlooked a major component of our shark (and no one else seemed to have noticed it either until I looked at it and realized what was missing.)

So I had to tear up more newspaper and cut more cardboard for a fin and plaster it onto it..haha but it turned out well.

Window Shopping

No pictures today thanks to my stupid broken camera or battery. Not sure what is wrong with it.

Anyway, I took Sam to PetSmart and Target today. We just looked at all the pets and toys. We had fun looking at all the cats and dogs. He got excited when he saw the reptiles and hamsters and stuff. He had lots of fun looking at all the animals and we had nice conversations.

Sam loves toys and is happy just to look at all of them. So that is what we did after Petsmart. We looked at all the neat toys at Target.

Then we went home and played a little bit of baseball outside (only because he hit his ball over the fence and needed me to go get it. Luckily it was right on the edge on the other side. Piece of cake!) So I played with him for little bit. Neither of us can hit the darn ball very well. At one point, he threw me the ball so I took it and ran and got on the trampoline and kept the ball. He got mad and yelled at me saying, "You double crossed me!!" hahaha I laughed. I didn't know he knew that phrase. It was funny.

Over all, today was fun day :)
